The "Taming The Wild" series, is a fusion of elements that inspire me.
The deconstructed geometric style is an exploration of the sacred geometry of North African & Andalucian mosaic work found in Islamic art, typically made using lozenge or star shapes fitted together into elaborate, tesselating patterned schemes.
The juxtaposition of these elements with loose painterly mark making and textured worn painted surfaces is what excites me in this work.
